Online marketing company vStream have set up The Digital Marketing School, marking the first time in Ireland SMEs and in particular start-ups will have an online consultancy resource that's free of charge.
Speaking at the launch, Andrew Jenkinson, technical director, vStream said. "From start-up companies to large multi-nationals there is a general lack of knowledge of this space. And it's also very hard to keep up to date, as last year's facebook is this year's twitter, and new technologies such as augmented reality are appearing all the time. It's hard for people to get grounding in this, as it can seem quite complex and confusing. That is why we decided to set up the Digital Marketing School and make it available for free. For Ireland to compete at an international level, digital marketing will be crucial."
The online video content is presented by experts in the digital marketing arena, Andrew Jenkinson, technical director and Niall O'Driscoll, creative director, both of VStream. The objective of this new venture is to help companies understand how they can best market their brand online, and essentially aims to increase public awareness of online marketing best practices, so Ireland can compete with the likes of the UK and US in this arena.
"What we're offering is a free service that will, each week, step by step, train and educate businesses on the whole area of digital marketing, starting with the basics from a beginner's level, right up to seasoned professionals," explained Andrew.
"By registering on www.digitalmarketingschool.ie, users will receive weekly video updates in the form of tutorials, case studies of successful campaigns, and some interviews with top industry professionals on their views of digital marketing. This month's industry expert is Shelly Lazarus, chairman of Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide."
Currently there are four video lessons on the site, www.digitalmarketingschool.ie, ranging from the basics of search engine optimisation to viral videos.
