Twitter users would be delighted to see the improvements in the interface on the 'Following' and 'Followers' pages. Earlier both these pages showed up a basic list along with Follow or Remove options. But the new interface takes Twitter Friend management to a different level. Also, two view modes are being offered to see Following/Followers.
Twitter co-founder Biz Stone wrote about the new interface in a blog post on the official Twitter blog. The new Followers and Following pages now show more information about the user in the respective lists. On both pages, users can choose between two view modes: Expanded and List.
The Expanded view mode shows the user name and user's location mentioned in the profile, along with the user's latest twitter update, while the list option merely lists the user name. One can toggle between the two views.
In either of the lists, users get to see Action buttons of which one button is for following the user in the Followers list. The other button gives an option for @ Mention (sending an @ reply to the respective user), sending direct message, or blocking the user. This seriously simplifies the friend management for users as they can directly perform the required action instead of visiting the users' page individually.
The users following you will appear as checked 'Following' in the Followers page list. This new interface for Followers and Following is available and accessible for all user profiles, irrelevant of the fact whether that person follows you or vice versa.
