B2B marketing faces changing landscape online

Several recently released studies, some by online marketing researcher Marketing Sherp, help outline some important facts about the world of digital advertising and marketing.

Marketing Sherpa's most recent study shows that, although the majority of marketing professionals do not yet regard social networking websites as effective primary venues, they acknowledge that the reach and intimacy of sites like Facebook and Twitter have the potential to become important advertising and marketing media in the future.

One marketer told the research firm that "[w]e began sharing content that was heavily geared toward promotion. This was not effective in the social environment. We now concentrate on educational and informational topics that our prospects and customers will find interesting rather than on aggressive selling information."

Another report suggested that trust was a serious issue for business websites, with over half saying that they had worries about sharing personal data. Ecommerce Guide recommends setting professional-grade security policies and putting high-end security services in place on any website where clients are asked for personal information.ADNFCR-1844-ID-19432211-ADNFCR
