Digital marketing agency founded Sunday, September 20, 2009  By Martha Kearns A new digital marketing agency is to be launched this week. Digital Ambition has been established by Mary McGovern, founder of McGovern PR, and will provide internet advertising and digital promotional services. The company, at www.digitalambition.ie, will target companies in the corporate, consumer, financial services, technology, healthcare and retail brands sectors. It will also provide a service for advertising agencies which need digital support. ‘‘Worldwide ad spend is down 12p er cent but, in most countries, online advertising is gaining momentum,” said McGovern. ‘‘While the use of online marketing tools is much wider than just a simple ad, the heart of that growth remains search engine marketing. The online advertising sector in Europe has risen by over €2.5 billion in the last three years, and half of this spend goes into search engine advertising.” McGovern said that Ireland still lagged behind Britain and other European countries in internet advertising. In Britain, online advertising is growing at roughly 40 per cent per year, and is expected to account for up to 14 per cent of overall advertising spend this year. While McGovern said the launch was a big move for the company, she warned about the danger of abandoning traditional media in favour of pure online marketing. ‘‘The biggest mistake being made by the burgeoning digital marketing sector here is to simply ignore traditional marketing channels. Offline and online marketing need to be integrated,” she said.
